Rises to the End

Christopher Nolan just had an interview with Empire magazine, revealing some information about his upcoming movie "The Dark Knight Rises". Nolan said that it will take place eight years after "The Dark Knight", and will be about how Bruce Wayne is older, and weaker than before. Other information that isn't knew, but still worth writing about would be the new actors and characters joining this Nolan Batman series. Tom Hardy (Inception), is playing Bane, and Anne Hathaway (Ella Enchanted), is playing Catwoman. I just went on IMDB and saw that Joseph Gordan-Levitt is also in this, the original rumor was that he was going to be the Riddler and be the main villain, which I think I would hav enjoyed, but am still happy with the idea of Tom Hardy as Bane. Instead of the Riddler, Gordan-Levitt is playing "John Blake", who is a character that I have never heard of.

The rest of the old cast is still there, and will be back (without Ledger sadly). But yes, Morgan Freeman is back as Lucius Fox, Michael Cane as Alfred, Gary Oldman as Commisioner Gordan. Even Liam Neeson and Cillian Murphy are coming back for the last one to reprise their roles as Ra's Al Ghul and The Scarecrow. Looking at this cast I realize that there are a lot of returning actors from Nolan's last film "Inception", and I just love this because all of my favorite directors typically use the same actors in a lot of their films. I find it really gives the actors a sense of comfort, and imagine that these are the films they enjoy making the most, because they keep returning to the director.

I didn't know until today that it would take place eight years after "The Dark Knight", but it does make sense. And is very possible, as we all know by looking at all the films of Christian Bale, he has no problem with changing his body for the a role.

I am sad that this series will be over, but all good things must come to an end. I'm sure there will be future batman films in my time... but I'm positive none will come close to the Nolan series.

Remembrance Day

Every year of my life I have had a remembrance ceremony in school, but what about when i'm out of school? Will I continue this moment of silence at 11:00 11/11? I hope I do, but I can't promise anything.

While I do have great respect for the fallen who were fighting for their countries, I think I would be a little more attached to this day emotionally if I had family apart of the war. The closest thing I have had to a family member in war is my great uncle. I believe he joined the military in the Korean War, but while he never actually left Canada he still had plenty of stories of when he went over to Korea... so there you go, the closest thing I have to family war stories are fake ones made up by my drug addict great uncle.

For Cougar Vision my group interviewed a couple of war veterans, (Want to check out the video? Go to our CougarVision2012 youtube channel). These interviews were quite eye opening, these men were very honest, telling crazy story about the people that they saw die, and time in POW Camps. Hearing these men talk, it... it really makes you thankful for not having to go through this pain yourself.

I do love war video games and war movies, but around this time of the year I take the time to think of what they mean, and try to wrap my head around the fact that todays youth are playing on a virtual representation of Iwo Jima, and D-Day, places where real men were scared and cold, and real men died... and didn't respawn...

Why is news so morbid?

In my blog I have started writing about news stories instead of just random stuff like before, and its just plain depressing. Apparently, some time last week a girl in Orleans (where I live), got off a city bus and was  beaten by a group of girls. The question at hand is wheher or not she knew these girls. If she knew them before, then it is still bad, but it would be worse if i was just random. Because the swarm of girls not only beat her up, then stole her stuff, but they kept beating the crap out of her once they had her stuff. I honestly can't believe that there were no witnisses around, I do know that there were a couple of guy friends of the mean girls that were just there watching.

Personally, Im scared for my friends, because basically everyone I know busses around the orleans area. I can't imagine hearing about a friend in this situation, or seeing the brutal outcome.

Internet... do your worst!

A video of a family law judge beating his own daughter went viral earlier tonight. The reason for this beating was because apparently she "used the internet", which is just plain crazy. Fortunately this girl was both smart and brave enough to video tape this on her computer camera.

I watched this video for about the first five minutes and was very disturbed by what I was watching. The asshole of a father kept beating her with his belt yelling "TURN OVER!" and when she wouldn't the mother came in and took the belt away and hit her with it. Obviously the mother was not in a right state of mind, probably also beaten often and was just manipulated. After a couple minutes the father came back to the room with a bigger belt, and I had to turn the video off.

This is one of those times that I am sooo happy that the internet exists. Because after this was made public, very quickly people found his personal information (phone numbers, fax, address) and I can only imagine the stuff that people from the internet will do.

Personally I hope that the daughter gets sent away to a safe place, the mother gets the therapy that she needs, and the father gets sent to prison for life. I hope that man gets what he deserves, and the sisters show him a nice time in prison.

Pumped up Kicks

I'm not sure whenthe album "Torches" was released, but I just started listening to it over the past week. The popular single by Foster the People "Pumped up Kicks" was got me into the band. The song is very catchy, but when you listen to the lyrics you realize just how weird and strange this song really is. It is about a boy who was often beaten by his father, and how he got a gun and shot a bunch of kids at a mall in Michigan. It is freaky that the way this story is told is through the point of view of the boy.

The verse is "All the other kids with the pumped up kicks, you'd better run, better run, outrun my gun. All the other kids with the pumped up kicks, you'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet."

This verse is very creepy, becase the boy is toying with those kids, because he's saying run away from the bullet, which is ironic because nobody can run faster than a bullet.

In my opinion, this is a great song, its great because of the catchy tune and lyrics. But also after reading about what its about makes it even more interesting. Such a serious topic in the point of view of the murderer is quite a taboo, because it makes you sympathize with this person that has done something terrible to many families.

I haven't searched up the topics of the other songs to see other things that interest this band. I can't wait for their next album, and hope they have other great singles to come.

Blair Shooting

Apparently there was a shooting at the Gloucester Center yesterday, and two people were killed. I found out about this on facebook last night, and many people were freaking out. Just after this one time, now people are saying they will never bus again, or go to that mall again... which obviously is an absurd over reaction. To my knowledge this is the first time that this has happened in the mall since I've lived in Ottawa. Although this does shock me, it doesn't scare me. Probably because I don't use the OC transpo as much as I used to. I'm not sure if it's confirmed, but the rumor going around is that it was about drugs (cocaine), so as long as you aren't involved with drugs, then you should be fine.

I find it crazy that everyone finds their news on facebook, twitter, etc. One person posts somethnig about it, and seconds later everyone on their friends list can learn that in a second. Although I did read the actual article posted on a legitimate news website, I got the link from facebook. In the past, for example 9/11, one thing that would always come up would be "where were you? (when it happened/when you found out)". Modern day society everyone learns their info sitting infront of their computer, although its convenient, and this kind of communication, in a way it is rather sad.

Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich?!

While researching for my film studies project, I had to watch scenes from 90s films. One scene I watched was from a movie called "Being John Malkovich", which I have already seen before. The specific scene I watched was the one of the craziest scenes I've ever seen in a movie in general.

The plot of this film is about a down on his luck puppeteer, who finds a secret room that is a portal to the mind of John Malkovich. After entering the portal you are able to see what John Malkovich sees for about 15 minutes, then you get spit out into a bush on the side of the highway. This is porbably one of the most unique film plots I have ever heard.

But back to the specific scene that I might be showing my class. The scene is when John Malkovich finds the portal, and enters it. Which brings an important question, what happens when a man enters his own mind?

When he enters the portal he appears in a dinner where everybody has the head of John Malkovich, and the only words spoken or read in this bazar world, are ther word Malkovich.

This scene is so funny, scary and weird all at the same time.

Just found this on reddit, I thought it wasn an interesting idea, take your favorite movie, then recast it...

Mine being Pulp Fiction, here we go...
Jules Winfield  - Anthony Hopkins
Vincent Vega  - Edward Norton
Pumpkin/Ringo  - Brad Pitt
Honey Bunny  - Kaitlin Olson
Lance  - Bob Odenkirk
Butch Coolidge  - Daniel Dae Kim
Marcellus Wallace  - Jack Nicholson
Mia Wallace  - Kate Winslet

Scariest thing = Children?

Just watchd children of the corn last night. It was the first time I had seen it and was pleasently surpirised. The main thing that caught me off guard was the acting, those kids were fantastic. And I also thought the to main adults were really good too, Linda Hamilton (pre Sarah Connor), and that dude.

It wasn't as scary as it could have been, but still had the odd well done scare. It was going just fine, a great C movie... until it pulled a Stephen King. See, the plot is about a bunch of kids that followed the word of a very religius boy. They killed all the adults in their town, and have become a crazy religious cult. It was all good, until the super natural stuff started to happen, and there really were evil creatures, instead of religious nutty kids.

Overall would give it a 6/10

Cougar Vision or "Broadcasting"?

Sir Wil believes that their "broadcasting" class, is better than our "Cougar Vision". I think the main reason was that they think because they have live shows in the morning, and we have pre-recorded shows, they are more professional. And two girls from Sir Wil even came over to the school, asking our students if they thought Cougar Vision was terrible.

After hearing all this I thought "wow, I know were not the best(yet), but are they really that much better than us?" Then yesterday I watched some clips of Sir Wil's youtube channel, and all I have to say is "Wow". They didn't have any full shows uploaded, I did see their skits, intros and streeter pieces. And I just watching those made me feel so much better, because they were all awful. They claim they have computer labs full of Macs, so what are they using them for? Because it's definately not for after effects, because it seemed like they used Windows Movie Maker.

I think at the end if the year there should be a movie festival between both schools, you will see that we will dust them.

Reddit? films!

Lately I have been obsessed with the website "Reddit", there is a lot of funny stuff, informing stuff, and lately I've found some pretty derpressing subreddits, like "depression" "Bipolar Reddit" and "Relationship Advice"... reading these people so very honest and depressing stories have made me realize how great a life I really have. While there are some set backs in life, you just need to remember it could be worse, and others have it worse.

But don't worry like I said before, this is also a happy site, full of happyness! :)

Not sure what else to write about like always, Dom is writing about our filming this past weekend for my film studies class. I would say the hardest types of films to make are horror and comedy. Our short teaser was a horror, and I don't think its going to scare anybody too much, but it is very well done, and am very proud of it. The only way our video could have been better or scarier would be if it could be longer, but thats not up to us (we had a maximum of 45 seconds).

New shows this fall

Tonight is the premiere of 2 and 1/2 men... I don't really care about that show, but I do care about the Premiere of season 7 of "How I Met Your Mother" (in my opinion best comedy series, next to Seinfeld). Also tonight is the Roast of Charlie Sheen, which I'm also excited about, the only other roast I've seen is the Roast of Donald Trump, which was hilarious.

Always Sunny has already started, but I can't watch it cause I still havent gotten the last season on DVD. This upcoming season looks hilarious, mac gained soooo much wait just for a joke that he would  be called "Big Mac"

Yep, dunno what else to write :p

anything else happening in the TV scene? survivor i guess, I still like that show...

person of interest seems pretty good, i think it starts thursday

This One Goes To 11

I have recently started listening to a girl punk band called "Bikini Kill", and I think this is the first time ever that I understand that the band is not that good, but I still like it. I guess that's called guilty pleasure eh? I'm trying to think of other guily pleasures of mine but am drawing a blank.

This band is my intro to the punk scene, after listening to them I downloaded the "Greatest Hits" of the Ramones, and I think next I'll start listening to the Sex Pistols. I find it intriguing that this is, to my knowledge the first all girl band that I like, maybe one of the few bands I like that have a girl singer even.

My music library is kinda weird, I was into a lot of Rock music for a while (Rush, Zeppelin, Skynyrd), now I'm trying to expand. I think the newest music I've started to listen to are Girl Tlak, Deadmau5, and a couple other things.

Intro

Im going to start of this blog with a terrible joke...

Three tomatos are walking down the street, Mama tomato, Papa tomato and Baby tomato. The Baby tomato starts falling behind and the Papa tomato walks over to him and squishes him and says "Ketchup!"

So I have to talk (or I guess write) about a story right? Well the other day i saw a video that was about a TV show called "Toddlers & Tiaras". This is a show about beauty pagents for children, and in the next episode one of the daughters is dressed up on stage as Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman". If you don't know, Julia plays a prostitute.
In my opinion these pagents were bad enough before the parents started dressing up their daughters to look like prostitutes. These pagents are not for the children, but for the parents to feel better because they wantto feel better about themselves. I am disturbed by everyone who attends these pagents, and anyone who watches this show (hopefully I am not friends with anyone that watches it, becuase I might have to defriend them).

I am confused on my opinion on if they should stop the pagents in general. Maybe it would eb good if it would be 18+. So no more children? that sounds good to me, because if they choose to goto these kind of things and dress up like prostitutes when they are older then all the power to them, but they shouldnt be forced by their terrible parents to do these kind of things.
